Steel Calm – Metal Element
Steel Calm is a Japanese decorative katana inspired by emotional restraint and inner balance within the Metal element. Its presence feels quiet, controlled, and deliberate — a study in discipline and refined strength.
Representing moments when clarity outweighs impulse, Steel Calm symbolizes calm judgment, structured thinking, and steady resolve. The design emphasizes harmony between surface brilliance and internal construction, reflecting the dual nature of Metal: resilience paired with precision.
The fittings (koshirae) are crafted from pure copper with gold and silver plating, offering a dignified metallic luster. The saya is made from green skin wood, hand-carved with a dragon motif, lacquered, and finished with hand-inlaid buffalo horn accents.
At its core, Steel Calm features traditional Hon-sanmai laminated construction, combining a self-forged patterned steel outer layer with a T10 tool steel core. The blade undergoes clay-coated water quenching, forming a natural water-wave hamon. Additional details include a bo-hi groove, a defined yokote, and a meticulous 25-step hand mirror polish finished with traditional Shiage polishing.
This katana is intended for high-end decorative display and serious collection, appreciating both craftsmanship and symbolic artistry.
