Still Tide – Water Element
Still Tide is a Japanese decorative katana inspired by emotional stability within the Water element. Its presence feels calm, grounded, and quietly composed — embodying strength held beneath the surface.
This piece represents moments when stillness carries more power than movement. In the philosophy of Water, true force does not always announce itself. It gathers, settles, and endures. Still Tide reflects that controlled depth.
The fittings follow a traditional antique style, offering a timeless and understated aesthetic. Genuine ray skin reinforces the classical character of the handle, while the high-mountain hardwood saya is hand-lacquered and finished with a hand-printed pattern, creating layered texture and visual rhythm.
The blade is hand-forged from Damascus pattern steel with a mosaic surface pattern that flows organically along its length. High-temperature quenching enhances structural integrity and clarity of pattern. Designed in a kogatana style with a true yokote line, the blade maintains a defined geometric profile. A 15-step hand polishing process is followed by an antique stone-washed finish, lending a subdued, time-worn character to the surface.
The blade demonstrates resilient structural characteristics consistent with its forging method.
Still Tide is intended exclusively for decorative display and collection, uniting symbolic depth with refined craftsmanship.
